What a week

Started school this week, I'm trying the whole online learning thing with the girls and church work. I am not sure how I feel about it so far. On the one hand the flexibility is great, and I like working on the class, on the other hand it's a lot of discipline is going to be an interesting thing to make sure I am doing. I look forward to see how I do. Pray for me. Church stuff is going to be cool and kinda interesting. I am looking forward to it.

Where we are

Well lets see, it's been a while, I know that I had all kinds of things that I kept saying to J that I wanted to Blog. Then I just didn't do it. Now I don't remember what they were. Well thats not completely accurate, I do remember what a few scraps of them were but of course scraps are not enough for a great pithy fun blog post. Still I have to get back in the habit so I thought an update would be good to do that.

1. Our cars are crap, we lost the tranny in the wagon, the jetta died and then the beater we got so that I could go back and forth to work that was supposed to be so great died 10 miles from home, the clutch went out. So anyone reading that would feel so inclined to send us a car hey we would take it. Especially one thats newer than 2000 lol.

2. Rising Hope is going to be challenging, still we gave away shoes and backpacks full of school supplies on Saturday. The whole family was there and it was great. I really enjoyed the little kids and actually felt bad that we had to stick around here today instead of heading over for the church picnick. we will be starting in October with our Kids Rock Program. I have loads to do but it will be awesome once it starts.

3. I start school this week. Masters in Psychology. I'm a little nervous but it will be really awesome. I am really thinking of going past the masters level. Wow can't imagine a phd but it would be cool.

4. J is getting ready to start back up at school after a week or so of not having summer school. Pray for her it's going to be a tougher set of kids this year.

5. Amberly is going into second grade and is also having some challenges when it comes to behavior, pray for all of us.

Well thats all for now. I will make a promise of more to come.

Thanks for reading.

You're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggonit people like you.

As a member of what was generation X, and as a longtime fan of Saturday Night life.  I remember, especially in the 90's,  the good casts of Saturday Night Live, and even though Al Franken had been around for quite a while in the halls of SNL, some of his characters really took of in the late 80's early to mid 90's including Stuart Smalley,   I still to this day remember Michael Jordan sitting in a sweater like Stewarts saying, "you're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggonit people like you."  Now Al Franken is a senator and while I applaud the people of Minnesota on their choice, and think he will do a great job, I just couldn't help myself when I heard him read off the outcome of Sotomyors confirmation hearing.  She was confirmed, another thing that I think is great and a wonderful step into a bit more diversity on the highest court in the land, still as Franken read the votes when he finished I just really wanted him to say, "bla bla bla on a vote of bla bla bla you are confirmed as a member of the supreme court, you know what this means of course Miz Sotomyor, you're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggonit enough people like you."

Coffee

Milestone reached.  For those that read and know history you may realize why I have been shying away from Jars of Clay and other music of that type.  There is one song in particualr that was hard to listen to, it's called simply coffee song.  It reminds me of a great time in life, and of close friends lost and found again, but ultimatly lost.  Today testing a theory I listened to it for the first time all the way through, not really saddness, and there was some regret but mostly it was wow those individuals made an impact in our life, in my life and as hard as it is to try and get back into someting and put myself out there, I'm going to try.

The Bane of Every Parents Existence

You've heard it, we all have, the tinkling strains, the irritating sound, the monotonous over and over jingling and jangling of the ice cream truck.  I say the bane of a parents existence, because this thing that invades the quiet of the summer calls to children.  It entices them with sweets.  The problem is for the price of one Spider Man pop you can get a box of the same thing, that you distribute not someone who's hygenic practices can at the best of times be called questionable.  So what do you do?  Do you let the kid get the 2 dollar ice creme? Do you say no all the time?  Do you say yes all the time.  Well we came up with a method,  Amberly wond some money for showing a sheep earlier this year.  Don't ask I didnt know she was showing sheep but hey it's all good,  she cashed her sheep check and this is her ice creme money for the summer.  How does it last for the entire summer you say?  Well we have decided that she can get one a week.  Still it doesn't stop her from asking every time the stupid truck or van as it were drives through the neigborhood.

Ah well I guess there are worse things to worry about.

Until I Wasn't

I've been writing some different things lately.  This one has been kicking around in my head the last few days so I decided to go ahead ...
