| When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone, When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on) If you feel like letting go, (hold on) When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on 'Cause everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long, When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on Well, everybody hurts sometimes, Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on Everybody hurts. You are not alone I know I risk getting nailed with copyright infringement or something but this song says so much better what my days and nights feel like. Sometimes everything is wrong, Take comfort in your friends these are things that I have been trying to do, as well as talking to J and to God. Today was one of those days that don’t see much progress the way i want but that do show she is getting things together. Here goes the update

Until I Wasn't
I've been writing some different things lately. This one has been kicking around in my head the last few days so I decided to go ahead ...
Hey Pastor Aaron, working in the ICU i see this all the time, sometime it takes some time for the sedative to wear off and metabolize from the system. She should start waking up more and more as the sedation stays off, please keep us posted through this blog and I am praying for you guys!!! Believing God for the testimony that is coming!!!
ReplyDeleteHey A,
ReplyDeletejust watched the REM video. It was very cathartic actually. It spoke to the universality of pain. I love how the guy was tossing scriptures down to the people.
I guess it's possible to take that as the Word was having no effect on their individual situations, but I choose to see it that in the midst of their pain there actually WAS someone giving them hope from above.
When we're in the middle of the lake of fire the pages of the Word being tossed at us seem to burn up in exasperation.
Sometimes we feel like, "If I hear one more scripture quote I'll throw up!" But on the otherhand it's that very Word that can be the life presever to pull us out of the water in which we're drowning. Hmm. So strange. So seemingly contradictory.
Alas, as a minister of that Word I think I'd rather err on the side of giving too much at the wrong time than failing to throw the preserver to that drowning soul.
I'm sure you have a collection of advice as large as the number of people who have contacted you in person or over the net so I won't aspire to tell you how to handle this, but rather to encourage you that you WILL make it through.
Only because I know what the enemy is trying to sow into your tired, frazzled mind... that you're going to go under, that you WON'T make it. To that I would ask you to watch this video by Casting Crowns:

Take care my brother and remember the Lord only expects us to live one day at a time. Yesterday is burnt into eternity and tomorrow belongs to the Lord until he gives it to us as today.
Much love in Christ,
Christopher
Oh Aaron, you and J have been on my heart. I have been praying for you both. Everything you have been writing about sounds so much like what I went through with my mom. I know you are finding this very difficult to go through. It was an emotional roller coaster ride for me as well. A couple of things I learned during my ordeal were that I had to release my wants and desire to the sovereignty of God...this was not easy and took some time. Then I printed out scripture and prayed over my mom. I took God's promises and stood on them no matter how bleak things looked. This was a first for me. I came to a point where I prayed to God that I was okay if He chose to take mom home to heaven...it wouldn't be easy to go through. However, until He told me otherwise, I was going to stand on His promises in His word with all I had. Here are some of the scripture I stood on:
ReplyDeletePsalms 46:1 "GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding."
Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."
Psalm 40:1-3 "I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD."
Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Romans 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
Jeremiah 30:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,'declares the LORD,
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Maybe these will be of some comfort to you. Hang in there…praying!
